IL LOMBARDIA: A DAY ON THE ATTACK FOR DAVIDE ORRICO

There couldn’t have been a better debut for Davide Orrico at Il Lombardia with the Vini Zabù rider on the attack on his home roads. 

The breakaway, that included also Mattia Bais, Domen Novak, Andrea Garosio, Thomas Champion, Jan Bakelants, Tim Wellens, Chris Hamilton, Victor Campenaerts and Amanuel Ghebreigzabhier, was born on the first ramps of Ghisallo before reaching a maximum gap of 6’20”.

The peloton didn’t leave the escapees too many chances and Davide Orrico tried again before the last long climb of Passo di Ganda where Tadej Pogacar made the decisive move followed by Fausto Masnada.

For Orrico, and Edoardo Zardini, the satisfaction of ending a very hard edition of Il Lombardia bringing the Vini Zabù colors on the finish line in Bergamo before the final week of the season.
