There wasn’t a better way to make a come back to races for Veljko Stojnic that was on the final podium of the Sazka Tour with the polka dot jersey as winner of the KOM classification.
The serbian rider was in the breakaway of the final stage, from Sumperk to Sternberk, where he was able to achieve some important points in the first half of the day.
The main peloton didn’t let too much space to the leaders group, where Stojnic was in company of Daniel Turek, Jens Van den Dool, Pawel Cieslik, Jan Bakelants and Jack Bauer, and the breakaway was caught on the first of the four laps of the final circuit in Sternberk with the climb of Na Valech.
“I couldn’t ask more to this Sazka Tour, I’m back after some very difficult months due to the crash in Croatia and I’m pretty happy with my condition. I was in a breakaway for two days out of four and achieving this jersey gives me some very good vibes for the second part of the season. I want to thank the team and I feel like this will be a good start point”.
Roberto Gonzalez was the best placed Vini Zabù rider as he was able to resist in the main peloton till the last lap even if he couldn’t fight for the victory that went, for the second day in a row, to Tobias Halland Johannessen with the general classification to Filippo Zana and our panamanian rider in 20th place.
The next race for the team Vini Zabù will be the PostNord Danmark Rundt from the 10th of August.
