The team Vini Zabù has almost started off with a bang in the first stage of the Tour de Hongrie as Jakub Mareczko has achieved the 5th podium of the season ending just behind Phil Bauhaus in the sprint of Kaposvar that has kicked off the hungarian stage race.
Along the 173 flat kms from Siofok to Kaposvar team Vini Zabù has controlled the situation in the head of the peloton showing a huge personality without leaving ground to the three riders of today’s breakaway, Stosz, Sevilla and Van den Bossche who was the last one caught with 8 kms to go.
In the final km of the race Jakub Mareczko had chosen the right wheel to follow and managed to sprint in second place missing the victory for a matter of centimetres as he said after the stage:
“I really wanted to win for me and especially for my team mates of Vini Zabù as they did a great effort all day in front of the peloton. The sprint was quite chaotic and I was so close to overtake also Bauhaus. There are other chances for me at this Tour de Hongrie and I hope to catch them starting from tomorrow”.
Stage 2 will be 182 kms long from Balatonfüred to Nagykanizsa with some short climbs at the beginning of the stage and a most likely mass sprint ending.
