TOUR OF THE ALPS: SIMONE VELASCO ON THE PODIUM OF THE FINAL STAGE

The fifth and final stage of the Tour of the Alps has seen the team Neri Sottoli – Selle Italia – KTM achieving a third place with Simone Velasco.

The winner of the Trofeo Laigueglia was able to join a 18 riders breakaway that was including also Edoardo Zardini, an action that was losing many pieces on the KOM of Collalbo.

At the bottom of the following climb of San Genesio, Masnada and Quintero were attacking from the lead group with Velasco who stayed in the chase group and with Zardini forced to abandon after suffering a flat tyre.

Masnada ended his attack succesfully bringing home his second stage win and Velasco was the fastest rider in the sprint for the third place that confirms his great beginning of the season with the leadership in the individual classification of the Ciclismo Cup.

Our next race will be on sunday the Giro dell’Appennino where we are gonna ride with the same line up of the Tour of the Alps.
